A magnificent Dickensian coming-of-age story that takes us from NYC to Las Vegas and back in a series of astonishing events. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize.

Step into the mind of a sarcastic sharp-thinking and often introverted A.I. being. Fast paced space thriller following the rogue security unit: Murderbot. A must read for sci-fi lovers looking for finely drawn storylines with an endearing A.I. narrative.

THE quintessential book on film editing. Any aspiring filmmaker should read this!

Eerily beautiful, as terrifying as it is terrific. Told through the perspective of a woman who has been requested to only refer to herself as her title, "the biologist." Think Annie Dillard meets H.R. Giger.

Dragons, Fae, multiple worlds and Librarians who steal books- what more do you need to know? An awesome book and fabulous start to a great series.

It has EVERYTHING! It has: vampires, Black vampires, polyamory, a murder mystery, a trial scene, and it was written by Octavia E. Butler.

A writer's deep dive into her family's history, taking her into the uncharactered personal territory of her ancestors. Rich and engrossing, Jerkins writes with admirable vulnerability. I learned a lot!

Follow Geryon as he comes into his own and grapples with feelings of loneliness, inadequacy, and monstrousness. Sweet, funny, and tragic by turns, this book will stay with you.

Norse and Hawaiian legends meet in a way that Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Xena, Hercules, and Marvel fans will love! Prophecies don't unravel themselves . . .

Even post apocolyptic life needs some entertainment, and this wandering theatre troupe is here to supply it. Station Eleven is a fascinating look at the ways in which strangers impact one another before and after a devastating pandemic.

I would call the stigmatic drug her muse if I believed these words came from a chemical compound, but NO. They come from her bones. Simple & sparse & devastating.

Transport to the 1920s and walk alongside the struggling journalist, Ernest Hemingway, as he navigates Paris. He introduces avant-garde literary artists and painters such as Gertrude Stein, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ezra Pound, and Picasso.

Beautifully crafted fantasy full of rich landscapes, complex characters, and unique conflicts/ Unflinchingly raw and unapologetically powerful. TLDR: Legend of Korra meets Firefly

If given the opportunity to learn when, but not how you were going to die, would you?

If you're new to fantasy, if you love mythology, or you simply want a book that swallows you whole - here it is. Buckle in.

Veronica Mars at Hogwarts!

Want to learn to read your birthchart, but don't know where to start? Let Chani, internet darling, be your guide.

Pride and Prejudice meets a Comedy of Errors, The Unhoneymooners is sweet and sassy, fun and funny, and an absolute must read!

Queer! Cyber! Punk! A collection of short stories with something for everyone who's ever felt displaced.

My favorite book ever! Once you read this book, it will never let you go. You join the unending chase between human + inhuman, between boneaching loneliness and nauseating proximity. Welcome aboard!

A classic tale of bad first impressions and misunderstandings. Can the beauty of the Galapagos Islands and some cruise magic bring two work rivals together?

Jonathan Safran Foer confronts the trauma of 9/11 through the story of a nine year old boy on an urgent secret mission. This book is tender, humorous and ultimately healing.

Please god do not let this horrible cover throw you off. This series is spectacular - my favorite of Le Guin's and she's written many series. And unlike the Dune phenomenon of books worsening as the series progresses, (please don't get me wrong though - if the first book starts at 50 million points, Chapterhouse is still pretty incredible) this series truly gets better the further on in you go. Tehanu in particular is GOOD. I recall there being tears of awe.

Meticulously researched and wonderfully written, the reader is pulled straight into the book. Whether you are a newcomer or loyal follower of all things Arctic exploration, Labyrinth of Ice is a must read!

THIS BOOK IS INSANE!! You probably never thought you needed to hear stories about Dennis Hopper chasing after an airplane his soon-to-be-ex-wife was on, or George Lucas breaking the animatronic shark from Jaws, or Martin Scorsese snorting all the cocaine in Hollywood; but guess what? You do! And you will if you read this book. Not for the faint of heart!

Before the technology even existed, Dick was asking questions that plague scientists to this day: What does it mean to have conscience self? Does free will exist or are we programmed? Can we go against our programming?

A masterful depiction of the implosion of hyper-masculinity, power, and narcissism set in barely pre-colonial Africa. Prepare to gasp in horror, cry in desperate frustration, and love every moment.

Hiro Protagonist is a pizza delivering warrior prince on a mission to save the metaverse in this fast paced cyber punk thriller.

Quite possibly the greatest storyteller in the history of music, Bob Dylan finally decides to set the record straight on the myths surrounding his life. And by 'set-the-record-straight', of course I mean completely make most of this book up and make things more muddled and confusing. Classic Dylan! Will there ever be a Chronicles, Vol. 2? The answer, my friend...

The first time I truly broke down and sobbed after reading something was when I finished this book. "Tell me about the rabbits, George."

A book when you feel adrift. An anchor against the riptide of thoughts that make us all feel isolated. A book that reminds us that our lives are a collection of moments and that we can't let one moment stop us from moving forward.

"Becoming" is a fabulous look into the fascinating life of the strong-willed, accomplished and iconic former First Lady. I loved htis book!

A stirring tale of courage and survival- with rabbits. A unique story of freedom, ethics and an allegory on human nature.

These poems are perfect for filling a quiet moment. Often about New York and love - these are poems you can carry with you, poems you will revisit again and again.

What more do you need to know? This hilarious and irreverent story tells the tale of Jesus's "missing years." Fans of Good Omens will love it!

The winding, the turning, the modern and all its existential dread, from this meek man's musings to himself that I read to myself back then, right now, and in the days ahead and, all in all, in the end, silent tears shall be shed.

How did one man, who was never elected to any public office, become the most powerful figure in New York for half a century, and create the city and island we know today? This biography may appear daunting at first, but it is brilliantly written and impeccably researched. It is also very likely the best book about modern New York and Long Island that you will ever read.

Youth, 1970s New York, friendship, love and rock and roll -- this book has everything. Patti Smith is a gift to us all.

"Who will come into my kitchen and be hungry for me?"

A triumph of military sci-fi. Follow John Perry and humanity's greatest military force survive in the universe with only seniors as recruits/ Read for rich images of interplanetary futures where conflict and warfare are the usual.

Fascinating, complex and quotidien, Middlemarch will entrance romance, fiction, and history buffs alike. The novel's subtitle, "A Study of Provincial Life" accurately infers the intimacy and exactitude with which Eliot dissects the culture of the 19th century Englishh countryside.

Essential reading from the OG Sad Girl herself.

A comical, heartwrechning way-too-real-at-times insight into a disheveled sexual awakening that I wish I was able to read in High School. Prepare to cry.

"Education is no substitute for intelligence. What do you despise? By this are you truly known. Without change something sleeps inside us, and seldom awakens. Give as few orders as possible... Once you've given orders on that subject, you must always give orders on that subject. Repression makes a religion flourish. Humans are almost always lonely. The least favorable condition controls the growth rate. An ecosystem maintains a certain fluid stability that can be destroyed by a misstep in just one niche. You can't buy security. "This is an ecological text, one that can teach you not what to think, but how.

In the third in Carrie Fisher's trilogy of memoirs, we travel back to the summer of 1976 where Fisher's personal journals reveal the shocking details behind an affair with co-star Harrison Ford on the set of a low-budget space opera called "Star Wars". Told with the same with and brutal honesty you've come to expect from the beloved princess from Alderaan. Charming, 'til the last.

A delightful, feel-good romance that will make you smile with every page

"I am a servant of the secret fire, wielder of the flame of Anor. You cannot pass. The dark fire will not avail you, flame of Udûn. Go back to the Shadow! You cannot pass."
